Thinking about it, he may have had help (J. Jeremy Bentham?). I think I read somewhere that Parkhouse wasn't particularly au fait with the series when he started, and didn't even own a TV. I think part of the appeal of his stories is that they are quintessentially Doctor Who, even though most of them feel nothing like the programme as seen on TV. It's like someone explained the basic premise to him, and then he just extrapolated the rest on his own.
I really, really want to write more, and seriously, about the DWM comic, which I adore. Maybe one day I'll get around to it.
